Thunderbird symbol

Thunderbird Symbol

The Thunderbird symbol used in my business logo was created by James Simon Mishibinijima and came to James as a vision during a sacred ceremony that he was involved in.

James saw the power, strength and leadership of the Thunderbird and its importance in stressing balance and harmony in our lives through the watchful eyes of the Great Spirit. He also saw the Tree of Life, which he places inside the Thunderbird, as a reflection of the struggles and difficulties of daily life and the lessons we need to learn to acquire wisdom and growth. In the tree of life, the roots of the tree stand for the beginning and the branches represent the different paths we take in our life. The shadow of the Eagle Feather, which are the feather lines shown next to the Tree of Life in the centre of the symbol, is a very sacred and powerful image for James as it represents honor, wisdom, bravery, love and friendship.

The shadow image of the Thunderbird symbol and the scales of justice found within this image was added by me, with the approval of the artist, to reflect that in addition to the teachings shared by James with his symbols, the duality of life and the whole concept of justice is not necessarily what is seen by us as humans, but comes from powers well beyond us.

A number of James' symbols and art work can be found on his web site at mishmountains.com
